Gather was co-founded by artists and curators Andre Mistier and Allison Harrell Mistier. The project occupies a new construction located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with garden space and a residential community above. Architecture by Aurelie Paradiso accommodates a modern lifestyle with hardworking multipurpose-design. The 1000-square-feet space is situated among culturally vibrant micro neighborhoods and art-centric Williamsburg.
Gather is structured around three themes: inclusive reflections of human impact; the intersection of science, art and technology; and the practice of innovative multidisciplinary collaboration.
The glass-front white box leads to a tech-ready area with projection mapping and surround sound. Tools are on hand for staging performance as well as edible curation. The founders believe that engaging multiple senses creates greater understandings and increased cultural transmission. Art, sound, performance and food can blend alongside immersive video elements to bring informative presentations to life.
Motivated by the quest for knowledge and the need to share experience, the project looks to foster idea-sharing and enriching stimulation with deeper connections.
Nonprofit status pending completion for 2022.
